Honoring a Half-Century of Service to Montclair’s Students

Mayor Sean Spiller hugs Dan Gill, July 3, 2021 (KATE ALBRIGHT / FOR MONTCLAIR LOCAL)

Mr. Dan Gill has been a much-loved and respected teacher in Montclair for the last fifty years. His half-century of distinguished service at Glenfield Middle School earned him recognition as the 2020 Independence Day Parade Grand Marshall. While that event was unable to take place, we honored Mr. Gill in our Caravan for Heroes on July 3.

Following the caravan, I honored Mr. Gill with a mayoral proclamation that recognized his extraordinary commitment to our youth and community. He is an example for all Montclair residents. We were joined in this celebration by Congresswoman Mikie Sherill, Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, and so many others from the community.
