Be on the Lookout for the Spotted Lanternfly

Now that we are moving into late fall, we are coming upon Spotted Lanternfly mating season.  The NJ Department of Agriculture notes that this invasive species from Southeast Asia should be exterminated as soon as they are spotted, no matter what life stage the insects are in.  These insects are incredibly devastating to their ecological surroundings.

These creatures can be found in vehicles, trailers, brush, stones, outdoor furniture, grills, trees, etc.  Their known favorite is the Tree of Heaven.  To learn more about how to address Spotted Lanternflies on your property you can visit the NJ Department of Agriculture website.
