Montclair Center for Social Justice

On Tuesday, May 15th, I had the honor of speaking with students at the Center for Social Justice at Montclair High School.

The center allows students to learn about the different aspects of youth activism and to discuss issues that they feel are impacting and of interest to our youth today. This semester, the students have decided to focused on Dreamers and issues related to DACA recipients.  As such, they also researched Montclair’s status as a “Welcoming City” and the efforts to make Montclair a Sanctuary City.

It was exciting to engage with these committed students who are so passionate about social justice. It was one example of the many programs Montclair Public Schools has that allows students to engage around important issues and have meaningful conversations.
