Play…Grow…Learn!

On Saturday, October 19, 2019 the Montclair Community Pre-K celebrated the Grand Opening of their “Discovery Playground and Gardens” during their annual Harvest Festival. Mayor Robert Jackson along with Third Ward Councilman Sean Spiller joined in on the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“For so long, I have been proud of the Montclair Community Pre-K. While there is always an emphasis on how important academic work in the classroom is, it is just as important to care for the social and emotional well-being of our children. That’s why making sure that kids are out here, having fun and also learning ow to interact with each other to solve issues, is so vital,” said Councilman Spiller.

The Discovery Playground features interactive drum and music spaces where children can create and feel their musical beats on drums. A shared nest-swing space where pairs can learn to swing and share cooperatively is also part of the new space. The Garden allows children to learn about horticulture growth and cultivation.

The MCPK prides itself on creating a welcoming, inclusive play-based learning environment for 3 – 5 year olds. The playground will be open to the Montclair community during off school hours and weekends.
